Limited Edition Collector Programs

Numbered. Registered. Verified. A limited edition program built for artists, brands, and collectors.

String Cases™ partners with artists, dealers, instrument brands, and licensed brands to create true limited editions — numbered and serial-numbered runs, artist proofs, and signature collections — each one registered and authenticated through our certification system. When we say limited, we mean it: every unit is tracked from production to owner, and every edition closes when it's sold out.

How Certification Works

Every Limited Edition unit is issued a unique serial number at the point of sale and paired with a Certificate of Authenticity — verified and maintained by String Cases.

  • Numbered issuance. Each unit in an edition is assigned a sequential serial number (e.g., "No. 042 of 250") at the time it's registered to a buyer.

  • Certificate of Authenticity. Every registered unit receives a certificate confirming its edition, serial number, and authenticity, tied to that specific buyer.

  • Ownership registration. String Cases maintains the registration record behind each certificate, so authenticity and ownership history can be verified going forward — including if a piece is later resold or transferred.

  • Verified by String Cases. Authentication isn't self-reported by the partner or the buyer — String Cases issues and stands behind every certificate and registration record.

This is the same infrastructure that powers our own Founder Series certificates, extended to every collection we produce with a partner.

Who the Program Is For

Artists - For musicians and performers who want to put their name, imagery, and creative identity on a String Case without taking on inventory, production, or fulfillment risk. You bring the brand and the creative direction; we bring manufacturing, registration, certification, and customer service.

Dealers - For dealer partners who want to offer their customers a numbered, certified String Cases edition — whether a retailer-exclusive design or an allocation from an existing Limited Edition Collection. Dealer partners benefit from the same certification and authentication infrastructure that backs every other edition, giving their customers the same ownership assurance String Cases provides directly.

Instrument BrandsFor guitar and instrument brands looking to offer a limited edition String Case — as a companion product for a new release, a tie-in for an established model line, or a standalone collectible for your existing customer base. Limited editions can be positioned as an extension of your own product marketing, promoted through your channels alongside ours.

Licensed Brands This category covers relationships in which String Cases produces a Limited Edition Collection under a license granted by the rights holder of a third-party brand — for example, a music publisher, a professional sports property, an entertainment or character brand, or another widely recognized intellectual property.

These relationships are proactively identified and pursued by String Cases. Rather than fielding inbound requests, String Cases researches and selects the brand it wishes to work with, then approaches that brand's rights holder directly to negotiate a formal license. No Limited Edition Collection under this category goes into production without a signed license agreement in place with the specific brand in question, governing the scope, term, and terms of use of that brand's intellectual property.

Every partner track — artists, instrument brands, retailers, and licensed brands — runs through the same certification and business infrastructure below.

Setting Up an Edition

Every Limited Edition Collection is scoped in partnership with String Cases before it goes into production. Together, we define:

  • Edition size — the total number of numbered units in the run

  • Pricing — the retail price for the numbered edition

  • Artist proofs — a small, separately numbered allotment reserved for the artist or brand, where applicable

  • Design and creative direction — artwork, materials, and finish

  • Marketing and messaging — how the edition is described, positioned, and promoted, so language stays accurate and consistent with the partner's brand and ours

For Licensed Brand editions, these terms are set within the scope of the underlying license agreement negotiated between String Cases and the rights holder.

Once terms are set, String Cases handles production, registration, certification, and fulfillment — the edition is manufactured, sold, and shipped the same way our own collections are.

How Partners Sell

Partners can promote their Limited Edition Collection through their own social channels, tour and retail presence, or existing customer base, in addition to distribution through String Cases' own storefront.

Editions can be structured as:

  • Wholesale, subject to minimum order quantities agreed with String Cases, or

  • Royalty-based, sold through String Cases' curated online storefront on the partner's behalf

Under the royalty model, String Cases manufactures, fulfills, and services the edition, and pays the partner a royalty on net sales, after an agreed-upon recapture of the costs String Cases carries to bring the edition to market. Terms — including the royalty rate and cost recapture structure — are set per partnership.

Reporting & Payment

Partners on the royalty model receive:

  • Regular sales reporting, so you always know where your edition stands

  • Quarterly distributions, paid via ACH or another approved digital payment method

  • An online approval process for reviewing and confirming reporting ahead of each distribution
